French Wine Could Get More Expensive Next Year

Prepare to increase your wine budget next year or suffer fewer dates with your couch and un verre de vin after work.

French wine production is expected to decrease by 10% this year, according to the French Ministry of Agriculture, largely due to extreme weather that destroyed grape crops across the country this spring, France24 reports.

Among the regions impacted are those that you may not have heard of—including Beaujolais and Charentes—and one you certainly have: Champagne, which was among the areas hardest-hit by freezing temperatures, hailstorms and drought. Yes, that means less bubbly for sale, which could in turn raise prices.
