The best wines for NOT giving you a hangover revealed

(Mirror) - Shoppers have turned to naturally produced varieties over standard wines because they don’t contain chemicals blamed for that morning-after feeling.
The online supermarket Ocado is now stocking 90 types of organic wine.
A spokesman said: “Over the past year, sales of organic wines rocketed by over 35 per cent and show no sign of slowing down.
“The North West has shown the most substantial growth, with more than a 50 per cent sales uplift in organic wine purchases in 2015.”
Ocado wine buyer Julian Twaites explained why drinkers are going organic.
“Consumers are more aware of the benefits,” he said.
“The winemakers take more care and rely on natural treatments to counter disease in the vines. Also, most organic wines are lower in sulphur dioxide – a common preservative in wine that is used to inhibit or kill unwanted yeasts and bacteria, and is the main culprit for those shocking hangovers the next day.
“These wines are intrinsically better quality and more traditional, which is reflected in customer reviews.” Organic wines from Italy and Spain are particularly popular, said Ocado, which was set up in Hemel Hempstead in 2000 by three former Goldman Sachs bankers.
And British drinkers are not the only ones developing a taste for the hangover-free tipples. German wine conference organiser ProWein revealed the annual increase in sales of organic wines is 20 per cent in Canada, 18 per cent in Sweden and 10 per cent in the Netherlands.
The number of organic exhibitors at ProWein has grown from a mere 17 producers in 2005 to about 600 this year.
