Super Bowl sticker shock: $25 wine, $15 nachos, $12 dogs at Levi’s Stadium
Feb 7, 2016
Super Bowl ticket holders are likely no strangers to getting gouged this far into the festivities, so it came as no surprise Sunday that concessions at the game at Levi’s Stadium weren’t a bargain.
While some vendors were selling the usual stadium fare at jacked-up rates — basic hot dogs were $8 and nachos were $15 — many of the eats and drinks for Super Bowl 50 matched the game’s erudite clientele.
Stadium-goers could get the “Big 5-0” sausage (complete with real gold flakes on top) or a Sheboygan bratwurst for a cool 12 bucks each. To wash it down, beer on draft for the high-end micro-brew stuff was $15, while Bud Light was $12.
Glasses of wine ran as high as $25 for “specialty” brands. The “premium” pours were $17, and glasses of cheap stuff came and at a not-so-cheap $15.
A soda in a souvenir cup? That was $10, with water not far behind at $7 a bottle.
Once you got away from the concession stands up at club level, things started to get real fancy. There was a barbecue jackfruit sandwich, rotisserie chicken and lobster truffle mac and cheese.
