Box wine has come a long way since it was first introduced in the mid 1960s in Australia. Although box wines are popular throughout Australia and even in some parts of Europe, many people in the States consider wines that are sold in a box to be inferior to those sold in glass bottles. Note the connotation of the name “box wine” and not just wine. In reality, there are many decent wines that are available in this type of alternative packaging.
