Sonoma & Napa Wineries Celebrate Holiday in Carneros This Weekend
Nov 20, 2015
(SonomaNews) - More than 25 years ago, a group of wineries banded together to promote Carneros wine appelation and extol the qualities of the vineyards and the fine wines they produce. It is the only appellation in wine country that can boast the attributes of both the Sonoma and Napa soil and climate, as the Carneros region is at the southern end of each county.
The annual event honoring the region, Holiday in Carneros, takes place on Saturday and Sunday, November 21 and 22 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m each day. Tickets are on sale now for $50 per person and $15 per person for designated drivers. Tickets can be purchased the door during the event.
Thirteen wineries from the region will be participating at this year’s Holiday in Carneros event, including Adastra, Cline Cellars, Homewood Winery, Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, Keating Wines, Larson Family Winery, Meadowcroft Wines, Peter Cellars, Poseidon Vineyard & Obsidian Ridge Winery, Robledo Family Winery, Schug Carneros Estate, Tin Barn Vineyards and Ty Caton Vineyards.
Each winery offers something special at its respective location, whether it is a visit with a winemaker, food samples, limited production releases, local cheeses and olive oils or special discounts on wine for the holidays.
The weekend also includes live music at most venues and a local marketplace offering handmade items from area artisans.
New this year is a VIP Experience. With the VIP ticket, each guest is escorted by bus to four wineries for a hands-on, personal experience. The four wineries will each offer a different and unique experience. Meadowcroft Wines will provided a blending workshop along with food samplings; Larson Family Winery is offering a reserve tasting with the winemaker in the barrel room along with food samplings; Peter Cellars is providing a barrel tasting and chocolate pairing; and Robledo Family Winery is offering a wine and food pairing experience with their chef
