(Golocalpdx) - According to the Oregon Wine Industry, 2015 was an especially fruitful harvest. Industry representatives reported that this year’s harvest delivered “exceptional fruit quality” thanks to a “nearly ideal growing season.”

The 2015 growing season began with warm weather conditions in the winter than continued throughout the spring a summer. Light scattered showers in late August and a return to more normal weather patterns in September made for “concentrated balanced fruit throughout the state.”

The harvest started around August 26, making this fall’s harvest one of the earliest on record. While some sites did experience sunburnt grapes, there were minimal signs of disease, no showings of pest or bird effects.

 Wineries in the Willamette Valley were finished with harvest by the end of September to early-October, while wineries in other regions carried on through mid-October based on late ripening varieties.

With most wineries reporting higher than normal yields, it should be a great vintage for Oregon’s wine connoisseurs to sample.
