Leigon acquires Jamieson Ranch
Sep 22, 2015
(Wines&Vines) - Bill Leigon, president of Jamieson Ranch Vineyards since February 2013, purchased the Napa Valley wine brand from Colorado-based investment company Madison Vineyard Holdings. The deal was completed Sept. 18, and the purchase price was not disclosed.
“I can now complete my vision for Jamieson Ranch Vineyards,” he said.
The deal includes the case inventory of Jamieson’s Napa Valley wines including Light Horse, JRV Double Lariat, JRV Stagecoach, JRV Silver Spur, Whiplash and Reata Pinot Noir. The winery sits on about 300 acres, with 75 acres of vineyards that was not included in the sale.
Ken Laird takes ownership of the real estate and property, including the winery buildings and vineyards. Leigon will lease the winery facility back from Laird.
Laird owns more than 2,000 acres of vineyard property in Napa County, plus three wineries: Laird Winery on Highway 29, Silverado Hill Winery on Silverado Road (which was briefly operated by now-defunct Crushpad) and Andretti Winery on Big Ranch Road.
The southernmost winery in Napa Valley, Jamieson Ranch is located on the busy route into Napa Valley from Sacramento, Calif., and the Central Valley.
The winery produces Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay, and its brands include Light Horse, Whiplash, Reata, Silver Spur, Double Lariat and Sweet Jane.
The Jamieson Ranch winery has a permit to produce 850,000 gallons per year and to hold 74 marketing events per year. It has been offering concerts on weekends during the summer.
Bill Spear continues to manage all sales and marketing and has become the winery’s general manager and co-partner
