Position Description

You will oversee the National Compliance Department, working closely with a small team to ensure the company adheres to state alcoholic beverage regulations. You will need to stay current on changes to alcohol beverage regulations that affect the company’s business and provide guidance to your team and other departments. You will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing the Department’s tasks while balancing various customers’ needs to make sure deadlines are met and customers are satisfied. You must become familiar with the company’s customers in order to maintain the “customer” pulse. You will maintain company bonds, licenses and permits and apply for new ones when necessary. Additionally, you will oversee projects involving the maintenance of company data. You should ensure your team members have a balanced workload, resolving issues they present in a timely fashion and helping to streamline email communications. You will be responsible for quick, accurate, and clear communication internally as well as externally, helping company members and customers navigate industry regulations and follow policies and procedures. You must be able to identify and draw lines in the sand, sometimes delivering disappointing messages. You will continuously review and improve existing company processes, ensuring efficiency and adherence to regulations, and you should implement new policies where necessary. You will troubleshoot issues arising from the Company’s various software systems, working with the Compliance Officer and company technology persons. You must be able to recognize, untangle, and anticipate issues and propose solutions, escalating more complex matters to the Compliance Officer. You will create Department objectives and track and report on key metrics.

Compliance demands high organization, meticulous attention to detail, constant data maintenance, excellent research skills, the ability to comprehend and apply state regulations, and efficiency. Additionally, every position here requires good judgment and a willingness to act as a professional liaison who exudes customer service. Essential Functions

Prioritize, delegate and complete compliance requests concerning alcoholic beverage products
Research, analyze, and review federal and state regulations to ensure compliance of transactions
Recognize and identify potential issues and propose solutions
Meticulously document and organize information
Follow and improve upon processes or procedures
Obtain and maintain state licenses and permits
Respond to internal and external inquiries in a timely fashion
Communicate with state administrators, customers, and company team members to determine necessary compliance steps
Complete monthly state shipment reports and tax reports
Collaborate with team members on state compliance projects (group and individual)
Serve as point person on issues arising out the Department’s core tasks
Create, track, and report upon Department metrics
Collaborate with Compliance Officer to make sure policies are followed
REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum of 1 year management experience
Minimum of 2 years’ experience in alcoholic beverage compliance
Able to self-start, prioritize, and take direction
Experience with critical thinking
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills
Excellent research and analytical capabilities
Extreme attention to detail
Excellent time management abilities
Able to work in a fast-paced team environment and meet deadlines
Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work with different technologies and a continuously changing atmosphere
Enthusiasm and self-motivation
