(Bizjournals) - Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in Napa has opened its new $7 million visitors' center.

The new center, dubbed the Fay Outlook & Visitor Center, was designed by Barcelona-based architect Javier Barba, and is named after one of the winery's estate vineyards. It overlooks the Fay and S.L.V. vineyards and the nearby Stag's Leap Pallisades.

Principal executives at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars include Ted Bassler, CEO of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Steve Spadarotto, its general manager. Marcus Notaro is its winemaker.

Dan Macdonald of Daniel Macdonald AIA Architects Inc. and landscape architect Sandra Reed of Zac Landscape Design brought Barba's "vision to life," officials said.

The winery, owned by a joint venture consisting of Ste. Michelle Wine Estates and Marchesi Antinori Srl, a Florence, Italy-based winery that traces its roots to the 14th Century, broke ground on the 6,000-square-foot center in July 2013.

The partners purchased Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in August 2007. It was founded in 1970 by famed winmaker Warren Winiarski and his wife Barbara.
